Professional Cornet Repair & Servicing
Preserving the "British Brass Band" Sound.
The cornet is the voice of the brass band. Unlike a trumpet, its conical bore and complex tubing wraps (especially on Shepherd’s Crook models) require a delicate touch. We specialize in maintaining the airtight seal required for that characteristic mellow timbre, ensuring your instrument responds instantly in the upper register without ‘fuzziness’ or resistance.
Common Cornet Issues We Resolve
- Trigger Assembly: Re-aligning sticking 1st and 3rd valve triggers to ensure silent, lightning-fast operation during solos.
- Shepherd’s Crook Dents: Using flexible ball-and-chain tools to remove dents from the tightest bends without splitting the brass.
- Valve Lapping: Restoring the hydraulic seal on Monel and stainless steel pistons to cure ‘air leak’ issues.
Leadpipe Rot: Chemical flushing to arrest the development of red rot in the receiver and leadpipe.
